Development Policy

The Development Policy Group provides a forum for debate amongst researchers from different academic disciplines, policy-makers and practitioners about international development policy. We are interested in how development policy is made and what it means, as well as comparative dimensions beyond the conventional ‘developing world’, for example within Scottish society or transition countries. We seek to create a space for interaction between those who analyse development policy and those who write and implement it.

2011 Aid Effectiveness Seminar Series

Following the successful conference on aid effectiveness organising jointly with Oxfam Scotland on 10 September 2010, the Development Policy Group announces a series of seminars on ‘Making the Most of Scotland’s Aid. Debates in Aid Effectiveness.’

The series kicks off with ‘Experiences of Aid in Pakistan’, with representatives of Oxfam Pakistan, on Tuesday 8th February (see events).

This is followed on 22nd March by ‘Evaluating the Impact of the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness on Development Outcomes’, with researchers from the University of Edinburgh and IOD Parc.

Further seminars will be held on ‘The Role of the Private Sector in Effective Development Processes’ (late April), ‘Assessing Aid Practice: Experiences of the NIDOS Effectiveness Tool’ (late May), and ‘Aid Effectiveness and Scotland’s Twinning Partnerships’ (June). Full details of these events will be posted in due course.
